Vinh Tan thermal power project (Vinh Tan commune, Tuy Phong district) is included in the national energy development plan for the period 2006 - 2015 approved by the Government.

According to the plan, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Center has a total investment of about 6.1 billion USD, including 3 factories and a seaport, with a capacity of 4,400MW, electricity output of about 28.6 billion KWh. /year.

In which, Vinh Tan 1 thermal power plant, invested by Phuong Nam Group (China) and TKV, is expected to be put into operation in 2010 - 2011.
